How to wash 100% cashmere
Cashmere is one of the most beautiful fabrics in the world. Having a regular upkeep of your 100% cashmere blanket will help you keep it looking clean and fabulous all the time.
How to wash 100% cashmere:
The best way to clean your 100% cashmere wool is by hand washing it every so often. This way is probably the safest and will make sure your cashmere will not be damaged.
- Combining a capful of the detergent you use with lukewarm water in a bucket is the first step. The usual rule of thumb is that for every 100% cashmere blanket, you will use one capful of soap.
- Next, soaking your 100% cashmere blanket in the sudsy water for around 10 minutes or so will start off the process nice and easy.
- After the 10 minutes, you can squeeze your cashmere gently, getting rid of some of the suds embedded in the fabric.
- Finally, you start rinsing your cashmere under lukewarm water while continuing to squeeze any excess suds out of the 100% cashmere wool until the water runs continuously clear.
The drying process can be done by simply laying it flat to dry on a rack above the washer or wherever you can but always remember to keep it out of the sunlight. Another quick tip to remember for your 100% cashmere wool is avoiding fabric softeners. Although you can use machine washing for your 100% cashmere blanket, in the end it is not recommended. The main reason being because most of the washers do vary between manufacturers and washing your cashmere garments on the wrong washer can damage your fabric. However, if you decide to go this route, the ideal settings would be on a delicate cycle with a temperature of 30C (86F) degrees or lower.
Dry cleaning can also be used on your cashmere when hand washing cannot remove stubborn stains. So whichever way you decide to wash your cashmere wool, the number one aspect to remember is that cashmere is delicate and washing it with the utmost gentle care is a must.”
